Monica Alcasid is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (lic. #141860). Monica grew up and attended school in the San Fernando Valley and earned her Bachelor of Science in psychology from the University of California San Diego and her Master of Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. She is a skilled and compassionate clinician with a particular passion for working with young children, teens, and young adults/twentysomethings.

Monica has professional experience supporting children, teens, and adults of all ages in addressing a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, grief, relational issues, parenting, and family dynamics. In addition, her personal experience as a competitive dancer has prepared her for work in the area of sport psychology and meeting the unique mental and physical challenges faced by student-athletes. Monica’s clinical experience includes specialized training in play therapy, administering Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) for depression, and serving as a research assistant studying the development of social cognition and auditory perception at the UC San Diego Mind and Development Lab.

A warm and collaborative therapist, Monica blends several theoretical and therapeutic orientations, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, and play therapy, to help clients cope with a variety of life’s obstacles. From a non-judgmental, strength-based lens, she aims to help clients work through their struggles, build coping strategies, and develop a strong sense of self.

In addition to her clinical work, Monica is a dance instructor and choreographer. This experience has allowed her to build relationships with a variety of children and families and foster an environment of learning and growth.
